Since this post, we have got Exchange in to Hybrid mode, though the bulk of our mailboxes still reside on-prem. Since then we have 1 or 2 locks every now and then, but I am pretty sure this is to do with user error and password changes rather than Skype itself killing everything. Skype sign in now supports MFA properly, which means no more using App passwords (also need to ensure Modern Auth is enabled).

Though I say on its own, I believe through MS updates. Just to be clear, I have done this on enough PCs/ users now to be 100% SURE THIS IS SKYPE! No doubts there. Therefore, I must work out what exactly is happening and how to fix this before out company gives up Skype / O365 as a bad idea. You can't expect to install something on users PCs and know it is going to lock out thier AD account without getting backlash from the users and management alike. It can be almost straight away or it can be up to a day later, but it WILL happen and just once. Once we unlock the account, put the password in and then reboot - the account will work OK. but at this stage, the account is locked. This is obviously their normal Windows (AD) password. However, shortly after this, the user will get a popup saying they need toĮnter their Exchange credentials to get to their calendar service.

That works just fine, Skype signs in and the user can skype people just fine.

We get skype installed and configured to login as the correct user and provide the App Password (mfa). When we upgrade a client from their old office to the new Office 2016 from O365, we also set them up with Skype for Business 2016.Īs we insist on using MFA, we have an App password generated for the user. Strange issue but it has done this on every single machine we have installed Skype for Business 2016 on, so a definite issue but not sure what to do to fix it yet.
